The bible is the measure of what is fair in the eyes of God.  Would it be fair for God to judge man without giving him a fair unit of measure?  How can I play this game called life if I don’t know the rules?  God is obliged to give us a standard that survives through all ages of time.  He is not harsh, and offers grace through faith in Jesus Christ.  Even God’s own perfect law could only bring death, and any new law is man-made and even more given to failure.

The bible is the documentation of where time is taking us.  Archeology is proving that the bible stories have physical evidence.  The stories in the bible reported predictions that history has been proving to be accurate.  Daniel predicted the Greek and Roman conquests, and other prophets named the king of Persia that freed the Jews.  The Bible is our roadmap through the past, present, and future.

The bible is called “The Living Word” because Jesus lives through its teachings.  He reveals himself to the faithful reader by personal inspiration.  As he inspired the writers, he inspires the readers by bringing the words alive in their daily experiences.  His life is represented by the acts of all the faithful of both Testaments.  His coming is announced often and clearly in the Old Testament, and confirmed in the New Testament.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.  John 1: 1-5

The word was God.  The bible is God.  He (the Word) made all of creation.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  John 1: 10-12

He was created in this world, and we didn’t know him.  His own people rejected him, but he rewarded many who accepted him, who believed his name.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.  And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.  John 1: 14-17

John gave this testimony that Jesus was the word of God made in flesh.  The Word IS Jesus, giving us grace from the punishment of legalistic religions.  Not even God’s own perfect Law could do that.  The Old Testament is the testimony of man’s inability to please God by his own effort to follow rules.  The New Testament is the testimony of our need for God to give us grace by faith in Jesus.  These written words are his personal gift of life to lost mankind.  The words are his life, and they are him.  He IS the Bible, living in our world and in our lives today.  He and his Word live in the hearts of men today:

Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:  Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.  2 Corinthians 3: 2-3

Paul knew that his words were part of God’s inspired teaching, and that those words would live in the hearts of men, not just on dead pages of text.  The world sees the actions of faith, not the words.

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?  James 2: 18-20

A few people with faith manifested in their deeds changed the world; they are the bible, and they are Jesus in our world today.  The word is living in them, and they are living in him.  Are you him?  If you are still reading this bible study you may be one of his people.  Not everyone can understand or enjoy the words of the bible, only those he has invited.

The Bible is the entrance exam for the real life

Unimagined opportunity is available on the other side of the veil; the real life is eternal; unlimited by time.

The Bible is Jesus

His life is completely contained in his word for our example.

The Bible is you…whosoever will.

He wants his word written on your heart, in your deeds, so you become mature sons of God.  You then become the bible living for others to read by your deeds.  Are you willing?
