The bible dares to look back to the point of creation, and even before, as God is the Alpha and the Omega; beginning and end.  Your journey has to begin in a realm that provokes controversy among those who dare to claim they “know” what formed the universe.  We can go with confidence in Christ.

I expect you can do well to go out in the country and just look at the stars.  Away from the city you will be amazed at the vast array of worlds that we are spinning around in.  Be satisfied at first to accept the astronomical dimensions of all of this.  We can hear God better if we wait for his still small voice to explain.  Take this challenge, and go on a retreat to see the stars, to experience the wonder of our worlds.  Act upon these words.

What astronomers can see is explained to be light that began its journey long ago.  If scientists believe that time and space can be warped, perhaps they can believe God could do that too.  If we look at time as belonging to God we can consider his creation message to be greater than his creation methods.  Let’s not get hung up on what we do not know fully yet.

The Bible is a complete map of time; a map of all time past, present, and future.  Its prophesies are not yet completed, and can never be if we are to be eternal.  The bible is eternal, as Jesus is the bible; the Alpha and the Omega.  His word has been proven an accurate prediction of events up to this day.  It continues to unroll accurately in front of us.  We may recognize events if we watch as Daniel did.  His predictions predated the birth of Jesus, and are still incomplete today.

The past was presented as a journey to the Promised Land of Israel.  It was the age of the armies and land warfare.  It was a demonstration of our inability to overcome by works of the flesh and carnal warfare.  The law was ready to destroy us.

The present church age involves living water, baptism, and journeys on the sea of Galilee and the Mediterranean.  The church fled over the oceans from persecution.  We are of the living water and a new spiritual warfare system.  Jesus revealed the spirit of the law by fulfilling it with his own sacrifice.  We learned to lead by serving.

The prophetic future points to the heavens and we look for the return of Jesus from the clouds above, as he went from us.  We are moving away from the land age and the church age of seafaring outreach.  A new age of spiritual maturity is needed for the sons of God to have understanding.

And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.  Daniel 11:32

More than ever before we need to know our God, who is only known by his word.  There is no other book that can react to your needs like this living word.  He can speak for himself.  He spoke in the past about ten virgins who were awaiting the bridegroom.  People of the church; we are the ten virgins.  It is a warning that even the elect may be caught unprepared.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.  Matthew 25:1-2

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.  Matthew 25:10-12

We need to know the bible so that he (Jesus) is written on our hearts and evidenced by our good works to the world around us.  Some of them are of us, and need a map.  We are their map, the representatives of Jesus.  And while we are saved by faith, we are manifest as new creatures by our good works.

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?  If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,  And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.  Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?  James 2:14-20

If we follow the saints of old we can see how they pleased God, many without the advantages we have now.  The patriarchs demonstrated the spirit of the law even when they were unable to keep its entirety.  They fell into grace by faith and repentance.  The principles are spelled out for us in the many lessons of the New Testament now.  We can connect their actions to their confirmation in Christ.  We can confirm Christ by their actions and their prophetic types and shadows.  The bible is a complete and eternal circle of truth.

All of this was arranged before God said “Let there be light”.  Your predestination was in place before all was void and nebulous in darkness.  You have a role in the eternal story, and it may already be hinted in the words we have had for so many millennia.  All of us are here in this story and the book of life will reveal how we played our part.  Let’s begin to study to show ourselves approved.  We will be taking the entrance exam for eternity.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  2 Timothy 2:15
