BY ALL MEANS

when instructions are simple we may be tempted to do more.  But can we do more than what God asks us to do?  The Law would refute our effort to earn salvation, so we do better to hear his idea.  From the psalms before we can do a lot by just lifting his name in praise.

PSALM 113

Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.  Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.  From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised.  The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.  Psalm 113: 1-4

And indeed why not praise the Lord?  After all these reminders we should have seen the power reflected back from this act.  David has been inspired to be a voice for God himself in these psalms.  We should want our lives and our business to reflect the goodness of our God.  We have our entire day for as many days as we have to illuminate the name that gives life.  This one name; Yeshua, Jesus, is the only salvation and he is above all of us.

Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high,  Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!  He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;  That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.  He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.  Psalm 113: 5-10

Who is like this God, who left heaven to look on us as a mere man?  He redeems the homeless and poor to give them honor.  The poor and childless woman is transformed by God to be the mother of nations.  Do praise God for these mercies.

PSALM 114

When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;  Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.  The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.  The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.  Psalm 114: 1-4

In the Exodus Israel was delivered from Egypt and its strange language, superstitions, and bondage.  Most of us have to move out of a bad situation into an unfamiliar situation at some point in life.  When God finally moves us he provides an open door.  The enemy was real, and so was the sea, but God moved all the obstacles that blocked Israel.

What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?  Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?  Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;  Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.  Psalm 114: 5-8

What caused the great disturbances of nature that let Israel pass?  The supernatural is superior to nature.  When our knowledge of nature shows no way we may be about to discover new science as God reveals it to us.  If I set out to start a business or to get an education I have real work ahead of me.  But I should focus on the wonders that pave my way more than the obstacles that threaten failure.  God brought living water out of the rock of ages so we would see Yeshua in every part of nature around us.

PSALM 115

Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.  Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?  But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.  Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.  They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: Psalm 115: 1-5

No Lord we are not to be honored for the great works that you have done.  Why should unbelievers say that our God is gone if they can see your name glorified in our prosperity?  Our God lives in the heavens and blesses his people while other beliefs are misguided towards stone and metals carved by men.

They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:  They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.  They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.  O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.  O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. Psalm 115: 6-10

Those statues have features that do not live and move in the earth, let alone move the earth itself.  Those who carve idols are as lifeless as the images they form.  People of faith, please trust God who lives and helps and shields you.  Everyone faces challenges, but you face them with help from the throne of heaven.

Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.  The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.  He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.  The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.  Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth. Psalm 115: 11-15

You that are wise enough to fear God trust him to be greater than your lesser fears.  God cares for us and he will bless us.  He will bless the children of faith.  He will bless the weak and the strong alike.  He will bless.  He will cause you and your family to prosper and grow.  You are blessed.  The God of heaven and earth has done this for you.

The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.  The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.  But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD. Psalm 115: 16-18

The heavens are God’s realm, but he gave the earth to men to have dominion over it.  The dead do not praise the lord, nor those that are silent, having no praise for God.  Those who live without praising God are already dead.  The people of God know his goodness and give him praise forever; Praise the Lord!
