Modern Presidents memorialized

Can we find wise candidates for president today?  Can we find wisdom anywhere in our government now?  Government contract violations, Veteran’s hospitals, IRS targeting, corporate crime, failed bank oversight all point to corruption.  But who votes for the leaders who bring corruption?  The word of God has vastly less influence than in times past.  The American voter is carnal and misguided.  As Israel was judged, this nation too will see punishment.  Can the church be a solid example pointing to hope?  God has a companion who appeals to our lost world.

Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?  She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.  She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.  Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.  O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.  Proverbs 8:1-5

Is there no history of wisdom in the world?  Have the people and leaders not pointed towards safe passage?  Isn’t wisdom placed above every pleasure and comfort?  Wisdom makes every effort to steer us away from destruction at every step.  Wisdom calls the foolish to turn to a better way and learn from her.

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.  For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.  All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.  They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.  Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.  Proverbs 8:6-10

If wisdom has a person she is not given to entrapment or deception.  Evil is a stranger to her and every word is truthful and helpful.  Her words are clearly understood and acceptable to those who find truth and knowledge.  The words of wisdom are more valuable than money; silver or gold.  They must be worth far more than the paper script of our modern world then!

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.  I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.  The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.  Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.  By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.  Proverbs 8:11-15

In fact wisdom is more precious than gem stones or any other desired object.  She is conservative, cautious, but able to discern clever deceptions.  To Fear God you must hate every way of evil and arrogant pride.  Wisdom is the power of just rulers and judges.

By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.  I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.  Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.  My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.  I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:.Proverbs 8:16-20

She is the power and partner of governors and judges, she loves those who receive her and she recognizes those who are receptive early.  She is the source of prosperity that is lasting when the owner is righteous.  Her benefits are greater than that earthly prosperity, gold or silver.  Wisdom is the leader to truth in the center of the safe path of good judgment.

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.  The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.  When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.  Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:.Proverbs 8:21-25

She leads men on the safe path so they can prosper…honestly.  Our messiah Jesus possessed this wisdom from the beginning, before the earth was formed.  Wisdom preceded the creation.

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.  When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:  When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:  When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:  Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;  Proverbs 8:26-30

John tells us that Jesus was in the beginning and formed the earth.  As this system and planet were formed wisdom was there.  Wisdom tells us that she was the delight an joy of our savior, a regular companion.

Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.  Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.  Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.  Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.  For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.  But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.  Proverbs 8:31-36

She was rejoicing with the creator and finding pleasure in his created beings.  Now listen to her instruction to have his blessing on your life.  The blessing belongs only to those who listen, watch, and wait to find wisdom.  These find the only way to life and the approval of God.  Those who reject wisdom are self destructive and moving surely to death.

Can we see a world rejecting in wisdom around us?  The gospel of Jesus is given as the only way to life, and it is widely mocked today.  Young people follow bad examples in music, movies, television, and the internet instead.  Marriage is considered optional while abortion is considered a necessity.  Relationships are marred by abuse, violence, divorce, separation, custody battles, sexual diseases, poverty, and single parenting.  Children are molested, offended, and left to worldly abuses.  Wisdom is the partner of Jesus, our only salvation.  Wisdom is not optional unless we prefer to accept death.

Our leaders are purchased and owned by powerful corporations, and commonly place profits ahead of righteousness.  These are not the wise rulers because they are chosen by unwise voters.  The church can only live a good example and bring neighbors to the gates of wisdom.

For a while you can defy gravity.  A recent rash of foolish selfie deaths suggests that our youth do not understand the gravity of the situation.  But there have been many generations of bad examples that opened our minds to temptation.  What is so commonly promoted on television and popular behavior is not always a good thing.  Solomon attempted to give us a warning.

My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.  Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.  Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.  Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:  That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.  Proverbs 7:1-5

Solomon was a father who offered wisdom.  His brother Absalom lived and died in rebellion.  Having witnessed the destruction of rebellion Solomon seeks to share wisdom with his son and with the world.  The law, the commandments, and wisdom are to keep us from the harlot, from sin, and from death.

For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,  And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,  Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,  In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:  And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.  Proverbs 7:6-10

Solomon was able to discern foolishness in a young stranger.  God can give such revelation to us, but this young man left no doubt.  This young man passed into the dark realm of an obvious whore.  The oldest profession can be very professional about her business, and subtlety is in her nature, among other things.

(She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:  Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)  So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,  I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.  Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.  Proverbs 7:11-15

No car salesman could do better at tracking down a mark; she is outside watching for her prey.  She boldly kisses the young man and makes an outrageous suggestion.  She announces that she has just honored God with a sacrifice and worship, and wants to celebrate her holiness with sex.  So she claims she was looking for this gullible oaf as an act of purity.  (Oh I am sure her kind is still found in many “modern” churches!)

I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.  I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.  Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.  For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:  He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.  Proverbs 7:16-20

Oh she has decorated the chamber of sin with the treasures of vanity and invites the young lummox into a bed of sin.  Of course it will be safe because her husband is away on a long business trip.  Oh great, she’s not a whore after all, only an adultress!  Now she has wounded two victims at once, and three counting the Lord.

With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.  He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;  Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.  Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.  Proverbs 7: 21-24

Now I think I shall praise and thank God for not being attractive, strong, and sexy.  I have known few such temptations which I too could fall into.  Even I had a few problems along the way.  She looks good, she talks good, she smells good, and she feels good.  He feels good going easily in to her, much as livestock goes gently to die.  As a deer he is slammed by the arrow of death, never sensing the danger of the huntress.  Solomon urges us to listen to the warnings.  Do you think there is no death in this sin?  Consider the statistics of our generation:

STDS 53376

NOW do we fear God?

Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.  For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.  Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.  Proverbs 7: 25-27

The way of self and pleasure is popular, and the harlot has a pile of bodies at the foot of her bed.  This is just as much as dead as those who fall from a cliff or play with sharks.  But there is a far worse death awaiting those who defy our God.  He has reached out to catch us as we fall, giving his son Jesus to die for us.  When we reject this gift we are without excuse when facing the judgment of God.  Our nation and our world has adopted a pattern of rejecting our one hope.  Our people have embraced the way of the harlot, and elevated her to be the Queen of our Babylon.

Solomon went on to fail to follow his own wisdom, as did his sons.  The Law of God was created to prove that the elect people of God could not be saved by their own goodness.  The sons of faithful Abraham all failed to measure up until Yeshua met them in hell to offer salvation.  We have that offer now, and we have heard the story of salvation in Jesus.  Still this once great nation is seeing more threats and stress than any age before.  Many people attend Christian churches and still act out their rejection of our God.  If Solomon could fall, and Israel was punished because of his sins, can our people pass without cost?

If our church leaders ordain homosexuals, can we expect youth to follow the bible?  If our churches lead us on demonstrations that hurl rejection against sinners are we not guilty of a major sin by railing?  Where is the example that lives a holy life while forgiving the repentant sinner?  How are we attracting the world to a changed life if our lives are not changed?   THE CHURCH is responsible to catch souls who are falling to a death of unending pain and suffering.  Are we the evil nurse that poisons the patients?  The false Christian IS the Harlot of Babylon, seducing the stupid into a “religious” eternal death.

How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.  They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.  Shall I not visit for these things? saith the Lord: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?  Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the Lord’s.  For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the Lord.  Jerimiah 5:7-11

Those were the days my friend

We thought they’d never end

We’d sing and dance forever and a day

We’d live the life we choose

We’d fight and never lose

For we were young and sure to have our way.

La la la la…

Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

How many attractive invitations lead to poverty, injury, disease, and death? The answer is every one that goes against the word of God, this well charted safe course. Just helping a foolish friend, being lazy, rebellious, or lusty can kill you. Read the map that steers you clear of the rocky shoals that destroy lives.

My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger, Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth. Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler. Proverbs 6:1-5

So a loan agent wants you to vouch for your friend? If you cosign his loan you are promising your money to the lender if your friend is a fool. When you wake up you realize that you are in a trap that can cost you dearly. So go save yourself by making sure that your friend is a friend indeed. Make yourself a friend for sure if you have made yourself a friend for surety. You have to be a counselor and encourager to keep your friend on his mission to pay his debt. This writer has been a cosigner when a friendship was cooling off, but this was a good friend who met the obligation. For some people this situation could be a time of fear indeed!

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: Proverbs 6:6-10

The instinct of the ants gives them a complete economy with agriculture and construction. So what kind of a brain lets the lazy man neglect his own life? If you oversleep your work call you must have smaller brains than the insects! Oh but just push the “snooze” button and roll under those nice warm blankets a little longer. Your boss will understand…not!

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.: Proverbs 6:11-15

To the sleepy morning there will come poverty like a cloud that moves over your life. It travels over you and it destroys your wealth like a tornado, or a thief with a loaded gun. Oh you can make excuses to your boss, and you can lie to your loved ones while you are sinking into poverty. This person can allow sin to ruin his life and the lives of those around him too. Because the weight of damage mounts quickly his fall will not be gradual. The speed of his fall will not let him grab a branch on his way to destruction.

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:: Proverbs 6:16-20

God loves his people, but not all of their deeds. The deeds can change the relationship. God Hates. These things lead to death:

God is our father, and wisdom a mother. The commandments and law of God and wisdom must be our single focus and aim in life. Do not leave the path of life.

Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. Proverbs 6:21-25

No, you don’t need to carry a box of scriptures tied around your neck. But tie your life around the wisdom of the word of God. Bring the wisdom of the bible into your core beliefs and live by them every day. The commandments and laws are part of this bible, which is known as the word of God. This light reveals the danger in the night. It reveals the black widow spider and the diseased crack whores that entice us. The cover of that book conceals the knowledge of sin and death. John also called Jesus the word of God. Let the son of God live in you through this guide.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:1-4

Even as a whore leads us to death a false God is a temptation painted to appear beautiful. These lead us away from that saving light and provoke the jealousy and wrath of God. The worst perversions of life are let into our lives first by abandoning God. Then no form of lust seems to be off limits.

For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life. Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent. Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; Proverbs 6:26-30

Whores will lead you to poverty, but an adulterous woman may cost you your life. If you play with fire you will get burned. Is God unfeeling to warn you that the stove is hot? You will not escape wrath if you steal your neighbor’s wife or husband. Any other kind of thief may find mercy if he steals only to eat. But this crime should expect wrath.

But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house. But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. Proverbs 6:31-35

He that stole to eat may repay sevenfold. But this one who steals for lust is ignorant of how it destroys his soul and his life. Not only is he found in a repulsive crime, but he is burned down to his soul. The thief can repay his crime, but the cheating lover will find no mercy. There is no bribe or balm that can repair an offense against both man and God.
